Welcome to 2012!!!

Ohoy!

I'm back! It has been a while...I know! How terrible of me, not to keep track of my crafty projects via my blog...

This year I decided to make clocks out of old vinyl records for the men in my life. A really fun and easy project for anyone interested in making one. The most important/difficult part for me was to find the correct clock mechanism I could destroy and remount on the records.

(A few tester mechanisms were destroyed by my trollish hands, may they rest in peace....)

I decided to add a bit of a personal touch to the clocks by painting the needles with glow in the dark paint, and making roman numerals to adorn the clocks with which also glow in the dark. :)

A Mis-Match made in Heaven

I couldn't wait till I had a chance to sit down and knit these cute little mis-matched mittens! I saw a similar concept in a french knitting magazine and I just had to make my own...Aren't they just so rock-n-roll?!

I got the idea from a pattern I saw in a french magazine. Because I suck and I don't read grid-form patterns really well...I ended up creating my own pattern and hopefully...they will fit the little hands they were destined for :)

And here is a picture of the "Hermione" hat I knitted on the train to Scotland...it's sadly a bit too big, but still fits and looks rather smashing if I may say so myself. It was my first experience knitting cables, and they turned out to be much simpler than I had originally believed them to be...(yay for simple things that look complex!).

Baby Hat for Mila

My first baby hat is now (almost) finished...

After having re-started this hat 4 times before realizing that the pattern was written to be knit on two needles and not in the round...I succeeded in completing this mini hat!

There is something so precious about knitting with tiny white lengths of soft cotton. I try not to recall how many times I was asked if I was expecting. I should really start hitting the gym more often...is what this experience has led me to think. :)

I am supposed to embroider the future baby's name into the hat...which I have no idea how to do. Hopefully some patient lady on youtube will show me how to do that.

I made some "personal" adjustments to the pattern for any future usage...as I detest knitting on two needles and would much prefer suggesting that anyone who is interested in making this hat should knit it in the round...to avoid any ANNOYING sewing duties afterwards.

Amended pattern and (original pattern) soon to come.

The Weighted Companion Cube

Here is the miniature weighted companion cube along with the homemade "The Cake is a Lie!" wrapping paper I made for a friend's birthday gift. I don't really think this needs further explanation for those of you who have played Portal.

I think he turned out to be pretty awesome.

Materials used: Cardboard, Foam, Acrylic Paint
Time Spent: I have no idea, I was watching Firefly

A Cookie within a Cookie

Oh beautiful summertime, how it makes us easily forget our silly blogging promises...

Anyway, here is a quick post to show off the Oreo cookies within chocolate chip cookies I attempted last night. *SUGAR RUSH*

dsksfjdfldfgklskjlfgkjdfdkfh!!!!!

My friend's little brother made these and I just had to try it myself after being told by several different sources that it was like eating a cake within a cake. And who hasn't done that?

Mike D

Hello there,

I'm back from Vegas and already knitting!

Here is the CUTEST bat EVER: Mr. Mike D. Yes like the Beastie Boy. I knit him while I was listening to their new album, so I felt it was appropriate. Maybe I should give him some ice?

Mug Cosies for a Great Friend

Ah...finally I can post these!! I finally gave these to my friend Sarah for her birthday. A set of 4 knit mug cosies. Aren't they so adorable?
I spent a long time searching for just-the-right pattern online...and found nothing to my liking. I ended up purchasing a pattern which made absolutely no sense, so I decided once again to create my own little pattern for this project! I choose to make the entire set out of the "Rasperberry stitch". I had a lot people ask me if this stitch is difficult to make, and it is absolutely not, if anyone would like to know how to make it, let me know and I will email you the instructions. But even easier would be just to search the stitch type on youtube and watch a friendly lady show you how to knit it!

I completed them by sewing a ribbon on each side, so that they could be adjusted to any mug type. I also added some anti-slip "grippy" like things on the back of each one to stop them from sliding around so much. That was my own idea. So proud.

Now my friend Sarah can continue her love story with coffee, all the while keeping her hands nice and safe. Also, they are so environmentally friendly! Next step would be to make a little travel pouch for them!!
